Wade's Wonder Goal Wins Award
First it was Chelsea. And now Manchester United and Liverpool are trailing in Burnley's wake!
For wonder winger Wade Elliott beat a host of Premier League superstars on Monday night to land the Goal of the Season award at the North West Football Awards 2008.
Wade's stunning left foot strike, against Charlton Athletic at Turf Moor in March, beat the likes of Fernando Torres and Cristiano Ronaldo to the honour at a star-studded gala dinner at Manchester's Midland Hotel.

Wade's stunner against Charlton: The goal of the season
Accepting his award from BBC pundits Ray Stubbs and Mark Lawrenson, Wade said: "The real quality of the goal was in Robbie Blake's nutmeg to set it up.
"I just swung my bad foot and it flew in, but I was happy with it and I don't suppose I will beat Ronaldo to many awards, so it's a special one."
Wade almost made it a memorable double, only narrowly being pipped to the North West Championship Player of the Year by Preston's Sean St Ledger.
The award, won last year by Michael Duff, was voted for by supporters and Wade has asked us to pass on his thanks to all Clarets fans who took time out to vote.
